Shannon Monnier

Currently a phlebotomist, now is pursuing his MLT degree.

Shannon shared his reasons why he wants to work in the laboratory as an MLT;

            “I would like to become an MLT, applying the amazing world of science to the human body intrigues me to the point of wanting to make it my career choice. What does the body do on a cellular level? I want to look at and know bacteria, spores, other microorganisms, identify different types of blood cells, test body fluids, etc. What is normal? What is a critical range? How can things so small have such a huge effect on the overall health of the human body? I want to know! These are just a few of the things I would like to have answered during my studies in the MLT program I recently enrolled in. Being a health-conscious person, I not only like to feel good, I want to know why. The opposite holds true as well, I want to know what makes people feel poorly. Reporting test results out in a timely, proficient manner in support of the health care professionals who are hands-on with the patients is what makes me know at the end of the day that I can make a difference in the health of a person.”
