President's Welcome Message

Welcome to the ASCLS-Indiana Website!

ASCLS-Indiana is a state affiliate of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS). Our organization offers continuing education, professional growth, legislative lobbying activity, a national peer-reviewed journal, and networking with other laboratory and healthcare professionals.

As a state organization, we are small but loyal. As with the entire laboratory profession, we have seen a decline of our numbers for several years. Those of us who have chosen to remain or become active see the need for our professional organization to provide our voice to the non-laboratory community. ASCLS has provided guidance to the FDA and CMS this year, and along with other laboratory organizations, collaborated on legislative initiatives. Two of our ASCLS-IN members attended the recent legislative days in Washington , DC . During the two day event several professional organizations went to “the hill” to provide information to legislators on vital laboratory issues.

To provide you with value for your membership, we have arranged an outstanding Spring Meeting this May in Indianapolis . The P.A.C.E. ® credits offered during the presentations are accepted for recertification requirements of both the National Certification Agency (NCA) and American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

To see the vision of the profession, be sure to attend the ASCLS National Meeting in San Diego this July. I am always revitalized when I attend these meetings. The professionals gathered there have a true passion for the laboratory and its future.

If you are not yet a member, please use the District Map link to determine which local District Director to contact to find activities close to home. Of course, also feel free to contact me or any other Board member for more information.
