Bullying can take place at school and in universities in UAE. In schools, bullying might be verbal, social or physical. Verbal bullying includes teasing and name-calling to make their friends angry. It might also include sexual comments and threating students to cause harm. The second type is social bullying. Children might not be friends with someone and tend to embarrass him or her in public. The third type is physical bullying in which students may hit, spit or push each other (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services , n.d.). At university, bullies might misbehave, use inappropriate gestures, or embarrass each other in public. In fact, both parents and teachers have the responsibility to protect children from being abused in the school and at homes. They have to increase the children’s awareness about bullying and what should they do to stop it (American Psychological Association , 2007).
