For some time now the question of whether or not the confederate statues from the civil war should be taken own across the nation. Do these statues support racism and slavery, do they need to be demolished? Perhaps they’re taken down and put into a shipping container for storage? Questions such as these along with many more have been debated back and forth between almost every person that has access to the internet. I believe that the statues should stay as a reminder of the horrible history that should never be allowed to repeat itself.
Many people from the southern state Louisiana think that the statues represent white supremacy and nothing less. One African-American activist from Louisiana thinks that the state should pass out sledge-hammers and “let everybody take a whack – just like the Berlin Wall” (Doyne 1).
