In this essay, I will be analysing the poems, the cockroach by K.Halligan and Westminster Bridge, by William Wordsworth published on September 3, 1802, in the collection Poems in Two Volumes in 1807. The two poems both reflect on either the environment or the creatures of the environment. Westminister bridge is written about the bridge in London being peaceful although the chaos added by the busy city disrupts its beauty. The Cockroach expresses the relation of our human cycle within an outlooked insect. The two poems share themes of peace and finding relaxation and were written in relaxed atmospheres. This essay will be an analyse on how personal relationships and thoughts convey a message throughout the poem, and how the poets used stylistic devices to communicate this message towards the appropriate audience.
