Hinduism : it is unknown where it started and by whom , but by definition Hinduism is based on beliefs in things such as reincarnation dharma, and in three main gods.it stands for the facts and the way of life of most people who live in India. It teaches the individuals soul of all living bodies including animals as part of the creator spirit. Buddhism: on the other hand is a religion based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama. He came to be called the Buddha, which means awaken one, after heexperience a profound realization of the nature of life, death, and existence.
While Hinduism is the belief of reincarnation dharma and the three gods, Buddhism is the belief in the awakened one. However, the basic foundation of Buddhism and Hinduism cannot be over emphasised below are some of them: according to the Buddhist society there are fundamentalswhich are key in their belief systems:
The truth of suffering ( dukkha)
The truth of the cause of suffering ( samudaya)
The truth of the end of suffering ( Nirhodha)
The truth of the path that frees us from suffering (magga)
Nevertheless, the Hindu society also has their foundations which includes
Is a belief Kama which is the result of me’s good and bad deeds done in a lifetime.
Belief in dharma and Hindu traditions that they must be holy and pure to return to brahma. They refer to the cycle of rebirth as samara or the wheel of life known as moksha when a soul is finally cleansed.
Notwithstanding the facts,Buddhism and Hinduism are some of the most ancient religions in the world today. Incredibly, Hinduism has been able to maintain its culture for over 3,500 years, Buddhism for 2,800.There are various similarities betweenHinduism and Buddhism which they share in common, these includes:
Buddhism is to Hinduism as Christianity is to Judaism, that both originated from the India sub-continent, and the founder of Buddhism was a Hindu who became the Buddha. In that regard Buddhism is considered the greatest gift of India.
Both Hinduism and Buddhismemphasize the illusory nature of the world and the role of karma in keeping men bound to this world the cycle of rebirth and death.
Both believe in cause and effect. According to Buddha, desire is the root cause of suffering and removal of desire result in sin in the cessation of suffering, while some of the Hindu texts such as the Upanishads ( is a) and the Bhagavad-Gita consider doing actions prompted by desire and attachment would lead to bondage and suffering and that performing actions without desiring the fruit of action would result in liberation of the soul.
Both are animistic religions as they place great emphasize on nature. Both believe that everything on the planet will eventually achieve enlightenment and liberation.
Both emphasise on compassion and non-adherence towards all living beings
They have strong believe in certain spiritual practices like concentration, cultivation of certain bhavas or states of mind, as both believe in detachment reunification of worldly life as a preconisation to enter to spiritual life . Meditation is highly regarded in both religions, because they believe real truth and spirituality is inward, not outward.
Finally, despite all their similarities they possess, they both have their different religious belief which make them not to get along, some of these differences are:
Hinduism believes in the efficacy and supremacy of a Vedas. While Buddhism does not believe in the Veda’s or any Hindi scripture for that matter.
Hinduism is not founded by any particular prophet, as Buddhism has it founder. Buddhism has no “rituals” in the traditional sense. They don’t do elaborate on religious rites like prostrations or prayer rituals. They don’t even have priests, really; though they do have senior monastics.
Buddhism does not believe in the existence of souls as well as in the first cause whom we call God, Hinduism on the other hand believe in the existence of Amar. Traditional Buddhism has no gods, where as Hinduism has literally endless variations and incarnations of gods and goddesses. Although many Hindus believe Buddha is an incarnation of Vishnu, but Buddhists do not usually share that view.
The followers of Buddhism do not worship wages of the Buddha’s nor believe in the Buddha attars, while the Hindu follower do worship him in the form of image and icons
Hindus also believe in the four ashranas or stages in life. This is not followed in the Buddhist principles, while Buddhism believes in the concept of bodhisattvas which Hinduism does not believe in that.
Hinduism has an entrenched caste system, where as Buddhism does not. Buddhists believe that anyone can achieve enlightenment, where Hindus believe you must be part of the Brahmin caste.
Buddhism is a religion without a god. Each individual must find his/her own way to enlightenment. While the Hindu concept of god is hard for non-Hindus to understand. It has been described as;• Polytheistic – a religion of many gods• Monotheistic – belief in only one god.• Monistic – god as an impersonal and unknowable entity.Scholars refer to this confusion as Hinduism’s tolerant characteristic. It allows its members to follow their own conscience and does not impose its beliefs on others, nor does it believe in conversion.
