People have be making up conspiracy theories since the day humans could record a thought on something. These statements are called a conspiracy theories which is a alternate reseason or idea on a controversial even that is put forth to convince people.
On a psychological level, studies show machiavellianism and paranoia are highly correlated with conspiratorial thinking. Anyone can make one of these theories up and convince people that it is really what happened. Someone could find a conspiracy on anything in this day of age. There is a conspiracy on lizard people under the crust of the earth, or there is drugs in cups of fruit to turn kids gay. People still make influential theories about tragic events that actual hard evidence can back it up, and they still think it is fake. A lot of these theories sound very convincing at first but once the facts are show they can easily be debunked. There is even a bunch of conspiracy theories about what happened on 9/11. People have came up with the theory that there was bombs planted in the builds before the planes hit them. Some think that jet fuel can’t melt steel beams so the towers shouldn’t have fell but supported the weight of the plane.
So much happened on September eleventh 2001, with all the lives that were lost. It was a tragic attack that shook the world and frightened most of the people in the United States. There was a series of coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda. Tuesday morning on the eleventh four airplanes were hijacked and taken over by the terrorist group, they flew one of the planes into the north tower then one into the south tower. There was 2,996 people killed in the attacks, with over 7,000 others injured, and causing over $9 billion in property damage. People needed answer for these brutal attacks and they needed someone to blame. The majority of everyone believed that al-Qaeda was to blame. Then there is the minority of people that though the president at the time George W. Bush, knew weeks in advanced that the attacks were going to happen. The first claim is that there was bombs planted in the World Trade Buildings before it fell. They believe this because there was lots damage to the lobbies of both towers when the planes hit. Since the first plane that went into the 94th through the 98th floors of the north tower. “There is NO WAY the impact of the jet caused such widespread damage 80 stories below,” stated the San Diego Independent Media Center on their website. Not knowing the actual reason why there was fire in the lobby, people might believe there was a bomb that caused it. But there is a logical reason for that fire 80 plus stories below in the lobby. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a branch of the United States Department of Commerce. NIST made the lead researcher have a interview with Popular Mechanics, in this interview he shared his initial findings. The NIST investigation revealed that parts of the plane cut through the utility shafts at the North Tower’s core. This created a channel for the jet fuel and other objects on fire to pass down to the lobby. Jet fuel going down the elevator shafts would have messed with the elevator systems and caused a lot of damage to the lobbies below. The NIST got a first person testimony saying he saw the elevators fall straight down, and fire came out. One of the elevator downs cracked open and he said he could see dead bodies on fire inside the elevator. Another eyewitness testimony from a married couple said they were in the North tower lobby only minutes before the first plane struck, and they saw people on fire.
The website AttackOnAmerica.net claims that the people of America and the world have been lied too. They claim that the fuel the plane was carrying was the cause of structural failure for the tower. Attack on America said that kerosene fire can’t burn hot enough to melt steel. When they made this statement when they posted it titled as the Proof of Controlled Demolition at the WTC. The fact is that jet fuel burns at 800 degrees ferinhight to 1500 degrees ferinhight. Steels melting point is 2750 degrees ferinhight, so that means that jet fuel can’t melt steel. The people with the conspiracy theories have a good point there. Most experts agree about the steal didn’t have to melt it just has to get hot enough to weaken the beam. Vincent Dunn, a retired New York deputy fire chief, and author of the Collapse of Burning Buildings: A Guide to Fireground Safety. Vincent has sad that he has seen bent, twisted, warped, and sagging steel. He also stated that he has never seen melted steel in a building fire. At 1100 degrees steel loses about half of its strength. And at 1800 degrees it loses 90 percent of its strength, and the jet fuel could make it that weak. The NIST thinks that a lot of spray-on fireproofing insulation was scrapped off the steel beams when the plane made contact. This leaves the beams easier to heat up and more vulnerable. Formam Williams, a professor of engineering at the University of California, San Diego, one of the structural engineers and fire experts that Popular Mechanics talked too. Forman says that the jet fuel started a inferno that caused more fire. It set off rugs, curtains, and paper. NIST says that pockets of fire hit temperatures as high as 1832 degrees, and that is hot enough to weaken the steel. The jet fuel only burned for ten minutes, but that is long enough to set a lot of stuff on fire.
As the buildings fell, visible clouds of dust and chunks were ejected from the floors of the building. An advertisement in The New York Times for the book Painful Questions: An Analysis Of The September 11th Attack made this claim: “The concrete clouds shooting out of the buildings are not possible from a mere collapse. They do occur from explosions.” (Popular Mechanics). Numerous conspiracy theorists cite Van Romero, an explosives expert and vice president of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, who was quoted on 9/11 by the Albuquerque Journal as saying” there were some explosive devices inside the buildings that caused the towers to collapse.” The article continues, “Romero said the collapse of the structures resembled those of controlled implosions used to demolish old structures.” (Popular Mechanics).
Structural engineers have concluded that there was no bombs in the tower when it fell. When the beams that were in the fire started to get weak making those floors collapse. When the weight from the floors above and weak beams that’s what made the building fall. Engineers call the process of a skyscraper falling from the top floor to the bottom “pancaking”, and it does not require an explosion to begin, according to David Biggs, that is a structural engineer at Ryan-Biggs Associates. The tower falls onto itself and collapse straight down. The building were made this way to prevent more damage to surrounding buildings.
