The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of training and development on employee
Performance of Gurage Zone, sectors Offices. Employees are major assets of any organization. The key objective of training and development is to increase employee knowledge and the skills for their better performance. The performance is measured in terms of the improvement in motivation, efficiency and the Employee Job Satisfaction. The methodology adopted for this study was random samplings where 146 employees of nine sectors offices were selected for the study and 134 questionnaires was return. Exploratory was adopted as the research design. The study was done based on primary and secondary data sources. A self-administered structured questionnaire was designed to collect the relevant data from the respondents. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequencies, percentages, Correlation and multiple regressions. Training and development had positively correlated and claimed using SPSS software.
Statistically was significant relationship with employee performance and effectiveness. Regarding the frequency of training provided, many respondents, i.e.48, out of 134 respondents confirmed that they took training for one or two times. This may delay the effectiveness and motivation of employees of the organization. Regarding the methods Implemented to deliver trainings, the sectors mostly used an instructor focused (lecture) in which 67 percent (189 out of 282 respondents) declared that they took trainings through lecture. The findings on the Effect of Training on Employee Performance are generally significant. Respondents’ response shows that most sectors adopt training and development programs at the time of induction, off job training and other situation. The study recommends that sectors offices shall conduct frequent trainings to make sure its employees are serving the interest of the customers
