The CIPD Human Resources Profession Map has been created by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in order to set the standards within HR. (as demonstrated in the figure below) All these competences have been designed through cooperation with HR specialists, academics, business leaders and their organizations describing the requirements for HR professional development. This allows to transfer knowledge into action by increasing HR value at the organizational level.
According to Jackie Orme’s speech during the CIPD HRD 2009 Conference, it was stated: “The map will allow us to maintain rigour while improving flexibility: the flexibility to meet the needs of generalists and specialists and to support professionals at all levels, and the rigour to ensure HR professionals and employees alike can be confident that a CIPD qualification delivers not just the capabilities needed for today, but the capacity to adapt to the growing demands that will be placed on the profession in the future.”
The map covers 2 core Human Resources strategies which consist of 10 professional areas and 8 behaviours in 4 different bands of competencies.
